High quality with more sustainable product – Nor-Maali´s epoxies are utilizing technology based from renewable raw material

NorECOat FD Primer, NorECOat HS Primer and Noreguard HS are high solids coatings that provide improved curing performance, even at low temperatures (< 5 °C), with a good workable pot-life. Longer application season is possible in cold climates. In addition to very fast curing, these coatings have outstanding anti-corrosion properties. These unique properties make them an excellent choice for industrial coatings.

These products are utilizing technology based on a natural, non-food chain, and annually renewable biomaterial. By thorough testing and formulation work, content of this biomaterial can be from 30 to 60 % in the paint component composition.

Despite containing solvent, these epoxy primers (NorECOat FD Primer and NorECOat HS Primer) and epoxy topcoat (Noreguard HS) are more environmentally friendly. “These high solids products are easy to use and they give uniform well protecting surface in various conditions. Fast throughput in coating process and usability in wide range of temperatures saves customer’s resources along with energy and also gives flexibility into production. The use of bio-based raw material in these products is an extra plus”, says Laboratory Manager Mika Perälä.

Bio-based coatings – Environmental awareness

Bio-based coatings still play a relatively small role in the paint industry. The current market share is estimated to be around 5% of sales. However, progress has been made in recent years. Scandinavian countries, Germany and France are ahead of others in the usage volumes. In these countries, demand is due to customers’ growing environmental awareness. Brand management requires upholding green values. (https://www.european-coatings.com/articles/archiv/bio_based-coatings-overview-increasing-activities)
