OUR ENVIRONMENTAL GOALS

RE-USE AND RECYCLING

Our ongoing goal is to improve the raw material efficiency of the manufacturing process. The aim is to reduce the amount of waste and utilize renewable natural materials where possible.

We re-use and recycle a large part of the waste from the manufacturing process. Waste is either re-used or incinerated for energy. We collect solvent and chemical residues, generated in the manufacturing process, for re-use. A large part of our raw material packacing material is re-used or recycled as metal or some is incinerated for energy. To dimish waste, we use as large packaging sizes of raw materials as possible – waste per kilogram is significantly lower.

SAFER RAW MATERIALS

We use increasingly safer raw materials in our coatings, offering You highly durable & green solutions.

Stricter environmental and safety requirements are constantly setting new requirements on our products. While we are developing our products to a technically high quality and standard, our product development team also explores new raw materials. This is for example to reduce the use of hazardous substances in our coatings. An important part of our research is water-borne, renewable and secondary raw materials with lower concentrations of hazardous ingredients and a carbon footprint.

We aim to replace the use of solvents with water-borne raw materials and products and thus reduce VOC emissions. Further to replace fossil raw materials with renewable materials. We are also investigating the use of secondary raw materials in our coatings to increase the use of recycled materials.

New technologies and cooperation with raw material suppliers play an important role in developing more environmentally friendly and safer products and solutions.

REDUCTION OF VOC EMISSIONS

In the manufacture of solvent-based coatings, VOCs (Volatile Organic Compound) in the raw materials are released into the air. EU directives set an upper limit for VOC emissions both in the manufacturing process and in the final coating products. We ensure that our production facilities are duly protected and conform to the emission standards.

We strive to reduce VOC emissions in both production and painting by replacing solvent-based products with water-borne and high solids products. By working closely together with our customers, we can help in transformation into more sustainable coating systems with reduced VOC emissions.

We are able to influence our customers’ VOC emissions through product development and technical advising. In addition to water-borne and high solids products, our coatings are high quality, providing better corrosion protection with long maintenance interval and reduced repaint need. With our direct-to-metal coatings the number of layers to be painted is reduced. We are also constantly improving application properties, which reduces the dry-spray and thereby VOC emissions.

Our sales advise customers on the amount of paint needed to avoid possible paint loss. Customers can use the VOC calculator to measure the volume of VOCs contained in the amount of a specific coating that will be used and to compare the VOC emissions of different products.
